History of 563 King Street

For those interested, here’s a bit of history we’ve dug up about our new HōM.

The following dates and tenants were found in the property file “The Old Codgers’ Address Book” which states the occupants from the 1900s through 1999:

1900-1910:  J.K. Salvo Dry Goods & residence
1920:  Louis Horowitz
1930:  A.E. Moorer, Druggist / Max Goldstein
1940:  Basket Shoe Store / Max Goldstein
1950-1970:  J. Sokol Furniture House Co.
1980-1996:  Goodwill Thrift Store Offices

The Trusted Palate wine and cheese shop/cafe operated in the space until October 2008. And HōM entered the 563 King picture in September 2010.

HōM Construction Progress

Here’s a quick construction update…things are moving along nicely. The walls are getting closed up this week as tile gets installed. The new storefront / entrance (think big glass) is coming in two weeks and the walk-in cooler and kitchen equipment are set to be installed the week of June 6.
